Our email system is anonymous. You do not need to give any personal details such as your email address, telephone number or home address to anyone unless you wish to do so.
Do not put personal details in your profile or initial messages such as telephone number, email address, home address or place of work.
Take things gradually. Find out step by step more about the prospective co-buyers.
If once you have emailed and wish to talk via the telephone, we would advise you use a mobile number that you can easily change or prevent your number appearing on their caller id.
Always be yourself if you're serious about finding a co-buyer. Don't lie or give fictitious details.
If you feel someone is lying to you or giving fictitious details stop contacting them and report them using the "Report this User" option on their profile page.
Always use common sense.
Meeting offline
Always meet in a public place
Never arrange for them to meet you at your home or give them your home address.
Always let friends or family know where and when you are going to meet someone and tell them what time you expect to be back.
Call them to let them know you are ok and give them details of the person you are meeting.
Why not take a friend along?
Take a mobile phone with you and ensure that it works. Ideally check before hand that you have a signal in that area.
It may take several meetings to get to know your prospective co-buyer. Be cautious they won't mind if they are serious.
Don't accept lifts from them.
Have a contingency plan.
Again always use common sense. Never do anything out of the ordinary and always stay calm and collected.
