Half of home sellers Dodging HIPs law
Sellers have been required since April to have a full HIP in place before selling their home. However it has been highlighted that more than half of the homes sold since it started have been sold without the controversial requirement which cost £300 or more. The need to complete and pay for the pack, which includes an energy efficiency rating for the home is said to be slowing any recovery in the property ladder.
An opposition spokesman said " Conservatives will scrap the controversial Home Information Pack outright .If ministers really wanted to help homeowners they would use their emergency powers to suspend HIPS and provide a much needed shot in the arm to the ailing market"
