House Prices Rose 1.9% in January

The increase more than offset Decembers 1.6% drop and left the average home costing £163,666 according to the Halifax building society. There were some very early signs that market activity may be stabilising, although at quite a low level and we should place too much emphasis on one month’s figures.
The annual rate of house price inflation ,which measures the previous three months compared to the same quarter a year ago ,remained in deep negative territory at a new record low of minus 17.2%
